I have been cleaning and refurbishing my Linux desktop, and one component that needed attention was the DVD burner. I rarely burn DVDs or CDs anymore, I just use it to rip CDs and DVDs, but I've done so much ripping I have worn this one out. I get too many read errors now.
I ordered a new one from Newegg. Frankly, I was shocked. I remember my first DVD drive and how much it cost. I remember my first DVD burner and how much it cost. Now, these things are just cheap commodities. I got a multi-session quality DVD burner for $13 with free shipping. Incredible.
I installed it, got the cables right, and now it works correctly and all is well.
But $13 including the shipping, that's just outstanding.
